my doors of dundas

“I have a friend who took all the doors out of his house one summer. It reminds me there’s nothing I have that’s worth hiding, he said. No secrets is the key to world peace. He put them all back on that winter. I decided it was peaceful enough for me, he said.”

why doors?

i love the details. the hardware. the dressing up with the seasons. the possibility of the life behind them. dundas has an abundance of neat looking doors and i plan to photograph as many of them as i can. i will keep them updated throughout the year, as i wander and find more.

  1. I love doors! Growing up, when I would travel and see a cool door I would take a picture of it. Can’t believe I found someone else who is fascinated by them.

  2. I also like doors – and windows. I made a collection and then turned them into ecards here: Windows & Doors Let me know what you think?

    • you found some intriguing frames for sure! my favourite is the olive door with the circular wrought iron detail. love.

      • The doors are from all over the world. The olive door with the wrought iron detail is a small half-hidden door to Civic Hall in Leeds, Yorkshire, England.

When an architect puts love into small details like this, I feel like he/she has given us a present that reaffirms that life is worth living – I know that sounds a bit gushy, but it’s how I feel. :-)
