i know this picture doesn’t even show her face, but it’s such a reminder of growing up. miss l was promoted in cadets yesterday to a leading seaman (i think, i’m not too confident in the ranks myself) i picked her up from another cadet activity tonight and before they were done i watched her in a throng of young people as they practiced marching outside. i realized that it’s not when they grow up, it’s how little time we have with them when they are growing up. it certainly feels like my heart is on the outside of my body tonight…
